We are large but we work together like a family to give
the best care to our patients. Quality is not just a
"buzzword" at MHS. We practice what we
preach. Our Standards are high, our commitment is
unsurpassed and we are dedicated to learning and continuous
improvement. We have a tradition of reaching out to
new team members.
When a new member comes to the system we provide a
comprehensive orientation program. This orientation is
focused by using a system to learn which skills the
member brings with him or her to the job. By
personalizing the orientation, skills that need focus are
emphasized.
Each new nurse is teamed with a preceptor to help make
their new employment experience smoother. Competency
skills checklists are completed in your own timetable to
assure that you have all the skills you need to do your job. The
STEPP
program is started at the time of employment and continues
until you have completed all the steps.
Our day to day work is enhanced by our Computer
system. The system has been personalized to fit our
needs at MHS. Documentation is done online and is
Multidisciplinary. Our Patient Centered
Documentation© has a single standard of care for all our
facilities, with specific standards of practice for each
patient care area. Our system has been designed to
reduce documentation time and to eliminate "double
documentation". This is done by a unique charting system that focuses on the patient's actual problems. Documentation of routine care is minimized.
The MHS system wide Education Department
provides courses to enhance your learning. In addition
there is an extensive Video Tape Library available.
Continuing Education Unit Courses (required for License
renewal) are also offered. Everyone has access to see
all items available for education through the computer
system.
