A FEW EXAMPLES
OF EXTREME SERVICE AWARDS
to Nurses at
MHS
| Thomas Daniels, LVN, MICU, Northeast Methodist
Hospital, is recognized by his night shift co-workers for
coming up with pre-printed forms with cardiology protocols
and pre-printed orders, expediting admisssions and
contributing to faster and error-free transcriptions.

| Kathy Martinez, RN, Labor and Delivery, Methodist
Children's Hospital, showed quick thinking and action,
saving a baby's life. A physician noted that her
astuteness at diagnoising an acute situation was impressive.

| Maggie Reyes, RN with the Oncology Department at
Methodist Hospital, brought a cat-lover leukemia patient a
special gift (cat pillowcase) to cheer her.

| Eva Rodriguez, RN, pediatric specialist, Methodist
Children's Hospital, offered her services as a translator to
explain to a family that their child, a bone marrow
transplant patient in the PICU, was dying. Her
nomination recognized her intense compassion, crying with
the family and sharing their grief.

| Gloria Streib, RN, Post Anesthesia Recovery Room,
Methodist Hospital, had just finished her shift when she saw
a need for nursing assistance on 4-West and spontaneously
volunteered to help.

| Many other nurses, as well as other hospital employees,
have been honored for their deeds and services that go
beyond their "job description". These
awards are publicized in the System wide newsletter
"InSites", distributed to all employees. |
