| The Nursing Service Department recognizes and affirms the hospital's statement of purpose,
"Serving Humanity to Honor God" and it's mission of making available to the community the
best possible care of the sick and injured without regard to race, religion, color, or
creed. We recognize the human dignity and patient rights of all individuals who come to
us for care and respect these values and rights in all of our
interactions.

We acknowledge our responsibility to provide each patient with nursing care that meets
his/her individual needs. We believe this is best accomplished through the purposeful use
of the nursing process, i.e., assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation, in
concert with the individual and others in his social group as he/she deems appropriate.

We believe that nursing is a profession whose members have both rights and
responsibilities. Among those rights are opportunities to participate in decisions
affecting their practice, respect, reward and recognition, and the
availability of the resources needed to render effective nursing care. As professionals, we believe nurses
have responsibilities that include lifelong learning, individual and group accountability
for their practice, participation in student and staff education, and participation in
organizational and interdisciplinary activities that promote patient care and nursing.
